Forex Indicator

If you do a google search you will often see the question what is the best forex indicator there is? In my mind its quite simple to answer.

For me the forex pairs are trending markets, although the price action within that trend could be quite choppy. This, in my opinion, is where the opportunity to trade is.

Below is a 4 hour GDP/USD chart with what I consider probably one of the best trending indicator sand thus the best forex indicator; the heiken ashi indicator.

This indicator has be discussed before in this TTM Trend article but you can clearly see why its such a great indicator on trending markets.

This heiken ashi indicator was set to MA method (3) and MA period (12). I also put on a hull moving average and stochastic just to show how you can build a system around this forex indicator.

There are many ways to trade this. Take blue single trades when above the hull ma. Or you could wait for a retrace to the Hull Ma in order to buy/sell in the direction of the heiken ashi indicator. Or you could just trade the changes between red and blue on the forex heiken ashi indicator. But as a stand alone forex indicator I think the heiken ash indicator can not be beaten in my opinion.

If you have a better forex indicator you would like to discuss please leave a comment.

Stock Market Trading Without a Plan is Like Introducing Your Wife to Your Mistress

singapore trader asked:

Trade and Trade the Plan

Successful stock market trading begins with a winning trading plan. It’s as simple as that. If you develop a well-conceived trading plan to guide your actions in the stock market you will already have the advantage over most of your market competition. Put simply, it gives you the edge you need to win over the long haul when trading the stock market or forex market.

A stock market trading plan will not guarantee your success in the markets, but a good plan will enable you to work methodically toward your stock market trading goals while reviewing on a regular basis what is working and what is not. It will act as a roadmap for your trading journey. It will enable you to respond positively and constructively no matter what happens with your individual trades. And, most importantly, it will help you control the only thing a trader can control: his or her own actions.

Finally, stock market trading is a business. It can be a fascinating and sometimes thrilling business, but in the end it is a business. A trading plan helps you treat it as a business.

Here are some important elements of a trading plan.

 1. Why am I trading? What are my goals?

The answers to these questions might seem obvious, but they usually are not. Take some time to ask them of yourself, and seriously consider the answers. You may be surprised by what you learn. And whatever the answers, you will have a clearer picture going forward of what this enterprise means to you, and that will help you survive any rough patches.

 2. What markets am I going to trade and why?

It is often best to specialize, especially for beginning stock market traders. Many pros make a great living trading the same stock day every single day for years. Choose a market that is appropriate for your experience level and trading style. Consider other factors such as available margin, volatility and liquidity.

 3. What is the concept or philosophy behind your trading methodology?

Your trading system must have a concept behind it. Whether you are a value investor like Warren Buffet or a trend trader like George Soros, you should understand why you are doing what you are doing, how your beliefs about the markets define what you will do as a trader.

 4. What will be your specific method?

In other words, specifically how will you execute your trading ideas? Will you buy breakouts or pullbacks? Buy oversold or sell overbought? Or will you use specific technical setups such as moving-average crossovers or another indicator-based strategy? Under exactly what conditions will you enter? When will you know to exit?

 5. How much money will you risk on any single trade? On trading in general?

This is critical. Of course, start small. But just as importantly, have a plan in place for how much you will risk, emotions don’t cloud your judgment when the time comes. The key is to find an allocation that doesn’t cause any stress but still makes the trade worthwhile financially. One of the biggest problems with newer traders is that they are trading way too big in relation to their account size. Like when you are forex trading. Trading forex at 100-1 leverage is like introducing your mistress to your wife. Yes, you can do it, but that doesn’t make it a good idea.  Normally they don’t get along too well.

6. What will my trading rules be?

This is also critical. Your trading rules include entry and exit rules, rules governing maximum daily, weekly or monthly losses, maximum risk on any given trade, the maximum number of trades per week, etc., etc. These rules enforce discipline and keep you out of trouble. What stock price will enter at, what stock price will I will exit. Be discplined.

7. How will I record and evaluate my trading performance?

Allow me to repeat myself: This is critical. In fact, this might be the most important element of trading for new traders in the stock market. A new stock market trader who evaluates his trades, winners and losers, in an effort to learn what works and what does not, will make quantum leaps forward in terms of ability and profitability. If you have a working trading plan and evaluate every single one of your trades after you have closed it you have already beaten 95% of the competition.

8. What are my rules for managing profits?

What’s the problem with profits? Well, believe it or not there is one, and it’s a serious one. It’s called euphoria, and it clouds the judgment perhaps more than any other emotion related to trading. Start piling up the profits for the first time and it won’t be long before you are convinced you are king of the world. About 30 seconds later you’ll be broke, following a series of unwise and exceedingly risky trades. So have a plan for protecting closed profits when you have reached your goals for the week or the month. Don’t give them all back.

9. How will I reward myself for following my trading plan?

Don’t leave this out. Following your trading plan will bring rewards in the form of profits, but you should also consciously reward yourself for doing so because it is such an important part of successful trading. So if you finish the week or the month (or even the day) without having broken any of your trading rules, find a way to reward yourself. You deserve it. You are in rare company.

If you follow your plan you are improving your chances of becoming sucessful stock market or forex trader.

Happy Trading

A New Career – $$ – Day Trading Stock

Friday, May 23rd, 2008
trading system
John McLaughlin asked:

What are your going to do now?

Lost your job? Your career is over? Your business failed?

Yet, you have some trading experience and the resources and passion to start a new career/business.

Then day trading may be for you.

Unlike other individual financial instruments traded, with stock day trading there are thousands of stocks that can provide dozens of day trading opportunities (big money wins) – any trading day, any time of the trading day. This article is about: day trading stock, trading stock, stock day trading, day trades, stock day trade and the like and you.

A fresh perspective about stock day trading.

While daytrading, It is the job of the day trader to find setups, stocks that present opportunities to make substantial money, throughout the trading day, online day trading, especially day trading stock.

The successful day trader should be looking for stock in a tension state, which is simply a stock with a daily price movement substantially away from a price balance, technically speaking, when you view charts. A tension state would be much like viewing a pendulum with the ball pulled away from neutral enough that, when released, it tends to accelerates to its neutral state and beyond.

Stocks, like the pendulum ball, tend to seek a balanced state, and like the ball, they return to balance and beyond, then fluctuate above and below the neutral position as they eventually return to some state of balance, or non-tension state, above, below, or close to the point of beginning.

Do stock prices behave this way while daytrading during the same trading day? Yes and no.

There are times when price of a stock will be completely filled after a gap open (price move from the prior day close) that morning of day trading or later in the trading day. Other times you will see a 50% retracement in the same day. Most times a gap move at market open will hold this tension state or price move the whole day and fill completely or partially on subsequent days.

As there is no way to predict how the price of a stock will behave after a sudden, major price move, it is best advised to be out of any of these day trades before the end of the day trading day.

Day trading stock, we find, is also far more interesting, as each stock represents the performance of an individual company or companies with tangible and recognizable products and services exchanged worldwide, in many instances involving companies managed by recognized leaders in their field. Each stock has both a technical (long and short-term price charts) and a fundamental (financial performance, balance sheet, profit and loss statements, earnings and so on) histories – both in flux, both impacting price positively and negatively. Therefore, trading stocks is far more interesting, and frequently more challenging than other forms of day trading to make money yet the profits are unlimited for those who learn to play the new game well.

Why day trading as opposed to swing trading or investing?

The last few months of 2008 have been crises times for most stock traders, where holding after the market close presents enormous risk. Stock prices can move 5, 10, even 20% or more over night leaving swing traders in shock at the open of the following day trading day. For all those buy and hold investors, their experience was no less shocking where, within just a few months, their mutual fund, IRA, or private investments can be 30, 40, and 50% depleted in overall value in a matter of months, wiping out decades of gains.

Day trading stocks, buying and selling stocks within the same trading day, with no exceptions, is in our view the best day trading opportunity in the NYSE and Nasdaq markets while day trading stock, trading stock, stock day trading, day trades, stock day trade.

Done well, gaining the confidence and competence with a consultant / coach, trading with a winning system that consistently gives you anticipated results, stock day trading can be the most rewarding (both for the joy of winning and wealth building profitability) trading approach we know of (and we have tried them all).

You too can earn thousands a day – day trading stock, should you qualify.
